Work experience at CAA
In person
Our in-person work experience takes a closer look at the role of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as a regulator of aerospace and aviation, providing insight into how we promote innovation in the industry, and ensure that standards and safety are always adhered to. Throughout this one-week experience, we take students through the different areas and responsibilities of the Civil Aviation Authority, and provide a five-day placement shadowing key experts at the CAA.
While we don’t have spaces for 2024, stay tuned! We’ll be opening up places in the future. Keep an eye on our website for updates.

With the changing ways of working it’s important to take stock and keep moving forward. There’s a great deal of excitement about innovation and the future of aviation, and it’s important that progression is made so they become a reality. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is focused on the needs of today, and the hopes of tomorrow.
Few industries capture the imagination of the public in the same way as aviation and aerospace. It taps into an unparalleled sense of wonder at what’s possible. When we were told that the sky was the limit, aerospace showed us what was possible beyond our expectations!
It feels like we’re still at the very beginning of what can be achieved. Naturally, this means that there are lots of exciting opportunities within the industry and at the CAA – and it’s equally important that more people than ever are exposed to the opportunities on offer.
The CAA is proud to announce a new and exciting partnership with Springpod, a specialist careers platform that helps young people explore the worlds of work and university before they apply. In order to provide young people with a chance to understand the career possibilities and innovative futures within the industry and the CAA.
Thousands of young people from across the UK will have the opportunity to gain an incredibly invaluable insight into the industry through a live virtual work experience programme. They’ll get to grips with the variety of roles available in multiple areas of the regulator, as well as take part in engaging activities and live webinars with industry experts that’ll get their careers off the ground and onto a flying start.
